Doubt bowhunting will work in that area unless the 500' rule is GREATLY reduced. Probably be hard pressed to find a spot unless it was 100' or less.

Irondequoit had a serious deer problem in the village . They used to hire off duty police to Bait & Shoot the deer . Later they went to having bowhunters get a certification and cull the deer during certain hours of the day allowing shots in less than 500 feet from occupied homes . It saved the Town / Village a lot of money .

interesting about Irondequoit. How'd they get the reduction of the 500' rule? Isn't that set by law requiring either permission from the landowners or a change of the legislature?

From a quick search this 2010 article suggests that the 500' rule wasn't changed, but that they were able to find some places that either were compliant with the rule or had some homeowner permission.
