I believe this is part of the problem...

Recommended Posts

and now this has nothing to do with anyone on here but im sure some may fall into it. Since this bill passed i have spoke with alot of gun owners and they ALL have ALOT to say about this subject as very well they should. However, what i find to be extremely strange is the very guys i speak to are

1) NOT part of the NRA

2) Did NOT even vote

3) Have not written any letters to state senators, made any phone calls or signed any petitions

In my eyes thats a huge problem... If people feel so inclined to express their feelings about what they believe they should be entitled to as a right but do not and have not done anything to aid in that benefit to help protect the very right they have so much to say. the other thing i have heard in conversations is "well if they want to tax my guns i am fine with that" or "they are going to do what ever they want so why bother" Just seems like their are alot of guys taking this laying down and dont want to even put effort into protecting what they believe in.

im not saying lets go crazy and get mad and angry about what we are facing but you would think so many guys who believe in their 2nd amendment and say they have the right to own a gun responsibly would come together and face this situation the best we can.

Just MHO...

I agree. If we don't do everything we can we will be down to a break action shotgun for the rest of are time. Well not my time cause NY can kiss my @ss i'll be out of here sooner than later. I still will feel bad for my family who has had military weapons there whole life who were in the service and now are made out to be a criminal.

These new laws were thrown together and signed off on so hastily it made everyone's head spin, I have no idea how law's are passed, but it seem's like alot of the process was bypassed. I would hope that with the NRA's power and amount of due's money they collect every year, that they have lawyer's in Albany right now fighting this thing.

i trust the NRA completely and im sure they are working hard to put forth some positive motion. i think their bigger plans really is Obamas gun agendas not NY state 100%. im sure they have people working on appealing the NYS bill but Obamas gun agendas would affect the entire country.

Humor aside, the reason why this went through so quickly was because it had been already drafted (or at least very close) and waiting for an opportunity like the recent tragedies to gain the support needed to pass. I hate to put it in those terms, but it is true.

Here's the good news (if you want to call it that). Most of the people in this state don't vote (gun owners and otherwise). So if we could mobilize our gun owners and get them to learn how to use their vote, all of a sudden our minority status can become the controlling factor in elections.

thats pretty much what im trying to say, thank you. our force seems to be extremely strong but on paper we can be an even more amazing force if every gun owner put in the extra time and effort. so many gun owners DO NOT put any energy into keep their right but rather complain when its compromised...
