StarTron vs Stabil

We have discussed the Ethanol BS on here in another thread . I was using the StarTron to counter act the ethanol in the gas for the riding mower , chainsaw , generator , weed whacker , etc. and had good results . I was also using the StarTron in my snow blower .

My snow blower hasn't been running that great and I attributed it to being a bit old . I was in the local Tractor Supply store the other day looking at new machines and asked if they ever have end of season sales in March / April . The associate I was talking to used to work at Xerox with me for a while . He told me that I shouldn't be using the Startron in the Snow blower and that I should be using the Marine Formula Sta-Bil instead . The Sta-Bil is $10 for 8 fl oz . I told him he was just trying to make a sale and he said that he got paid the same whether he sold anything or not .

Anyway , he said that TSC had gotten a memo from Headquarters stating something to the effect that machines using the StarTron in cold weather tended to leave gum deposits and created problems problems with the machines but was a fine product during warmer weather .

I bought a bottle of the Marine Formula Sta-Bil . The directions call for 1 oz with 10 gallons of gas for everyday use . I put about 1/4 oz of the stuff in the fuel tank a couple days ago . We got hit with some snow today so I started up the blower and after a few minutes it was running pretty good .

I only posted this boring topic with the thought that it might help someone down the road . Another thought would be to buy a couple gallons of Premium gas at one of the Fastrac Stores as their Premium has no ethanol in it .

I have been using Marine Grade Sta-bil ever since it came out also used Marine Grade Fogging Oil at the end of the season.Stable takes care of the fuel system,Fogging oil Lubes the cylinders piston and rings.Every thing works and runs fine.

I have been using plain stabile, in all my small engine stuff, for years with zero problems .....even since the 10% ethanol thing. Im a little more paranoid about my ATV's and my classic car so in them I have been using K-100 or the startron but .....who knows.

I switched to K-100 this past fall in my boat & all the yard equip. It seem to really work well & they claim it boost the octane of the gas. I know my boat run much smoother & had more power. It also breaks down water in gas & makes it burn. Check out their web site & watch the videos they are interesting to hear/see.

If it warms up this weekend I should pull the gas tank off the machine and dump it . It ran much better tonight after I let it warm up . Had to clear another 6 - 7 inches of snow . When I finished the whole driveway and walkway , there was an inch more of snow .

if you dont have a fastrac in your area try the local airport. one of our areas fire departments still has an old IH truck in use. after every outing they fill it up at the airport.(no ethanol and high octane. very clean) other departments are using the canned gas at lowes/homedepot for there response equipment (saws, jaws and such) expensive but when you need it to start it does.
