Responsible disposal of ruined shotgun slugs

Along with the corroded rifle ammunition, I also acquired a couple of boxes of nasty looking shotgun slugs that are definitely throw-aways. I want to dispose of it in a way that is safe. Throwing them in the garbage does not seem really safe for the trash pick-up guys so I was wondering what is the best way of disposing of loaded and primed slugs. Is there a recommended way to dispose of ammo?

Plastic or paper hulls?  
 

Cut open and burn the powder.  Put slugs in battery landfill.

Other than feeding them to possums, I had several boxes of shells stored carelessly that were swollen/etc. I cut the cases open , poured out the lead to recast, and the powder is actually very benign. spread it on the lawn or mix it in kitty litter, etc. You could put a drop of oil on the primer, but I wouldnt worry too much about that.

Cut them open (perfectly safe) and dump the powder out.   Pop the primers in your shotgun.

Drop them off in the Hood , they will find a use !  LOL (kidding folks)
