pheasant hunting

I am looking for agood place to hunt pheasant do not want to pay 14 dollars apiece any more any ideas let me know

Pheasants are stocked all over the great state of NY.

Its funny because I was actually looking to go the other way. My buddy with a bird dog just moved away and I was looking for a place that took care of such particulars as I dont have the time or the property to train a dog, Anybody have any suggestions ?

The Finger Lakes National Forest holds a fair amount of wild birds. I used to go there in august to train my dogs on the young birds when the training season opened back up.

Check out the club I am in they offer guides and dogs if you need them or you can go alone if you want.

JKZ- I don't know where you are but this preserve I highly recommend. No frills. I bought my Springer (Bumper) from Loraine and she helped me in the training. She also has dogs she will run for you. SHe has pointers and flushing breeds. Great lady and very down to earth. Located 1/2 hour south of Rochester

  Stewart land in orange county releases pheasant every year. It's state land so it's free. shotgun only.

It's not bad! It's busy during big game, but I usually only hunt small game there. Big game once and a while but might have to this year cause I have no private land anymore and can't find any.

I remember the line used to start to form the day before on Sunday for deer season.I saw alot of nice deer there.I only bird hunted there.Nice to know its still open.

A lot of big deer there. We were running GSPa few years ago. We came upon a HUGE 8 pointer that was arrowed, G_D it was huge. The archer was walking towards us thanking us. It seems that we pushed the Buck to him

If I remember Stewart is shotgun only.No handguns were allowwed in the complex either.

Yes Stewart is only shotgun.
