Rumor has it that this deer was taken near or in Cato, NY last week sometime. Details are vague at best and the picture could be better because it came from a text message. I've heard several 3rd and 4th hand verifications, so this is all I know for now. If anyone has more details- please fill us in.

I have no way of proving it, but this one looks totally fake to me.  It looks like a sloppy photoshop job.  Notice his right arm behind the antler how it doesn't seem to line up.

I've been retouching for 25 years and there are some questionable shadows, breaks in the antlers and like Steve said the lineup isn't correct on the right arm. The give away I see is the size of the right beam, the head isn't turned enough for that thing to be sticking out so far front.

Open the picture outside of your web browser and zoom in, you can see its not photoshopped, the arm looks like it doesnt line up because of the angle of his elbow and the way the folds in the jacket are. I dont think its faked. Whether or not the story behind it is true or not, I dont know.

The bad lines look like pixelating from a low res phone camera.  It might be legit although there is a strange blotch by the left ear.

I also think I've seen the mug of that hunters somewhere before.  I don't remember where, but these same internet hoaxes seem to turn up year after year.

Are some of you guys that desprate to see pictures of bucks that it comes down to pages of how fake a certain picture is? This kinda crap degrades the quality of this forum by poluting the hunting section. And it seems to be spreading elsewhere. How sad. You would think there's time to go hunting and plug one of your own, show it to other members as something to be proud of.

But no, what seems to be atop of the first page, fake crap, awsome.  :

I made some posts on this picture yesterday thinking it was a fake.  I think to really make a fair judgement about the picture we really need to see some others. You can't tell by this picture. I've retouched over 25 years and to think you can make a call on a low res phone image is absurd! Steve show us some other pictures and I'll be  a believer, I'm skeptical but if it's the real thing WOW what a monster.

This kind of stuff is what they call "horn porn".  Those girls in porn movies aren't exactly all real either.  From magazines that glorify only big antlered deer, to TV shows, and to the scores of DVD's one can buy, it has all polluted what hunting should be all about in my opinion.  These days you have people hunting who care for little else other than the almighty "horns".  Real sad in my opinion.

I'm not disagreeing with you - I think more about my first basket buck that I killed still hunting than the wall hangers I got sitting in a tree stand for a week in Alberta.

I didn't post this pic to cause a ruckus- I just think the deer in the pic is huge and want know more about it. I'm kind of hoping it is real. The word in the local bowshop here is that it is real and the guy is a consistently successful hunter. I DO think this whole post belongs in this forum- this is a New York hunting forum after all and that is supposedly a New York deer, and most of us on here are interested in big buck kills in the state regardless of whether or not a "forum" member killed it. However, I do apologize for originally posting it in the "members only" harvest thread- I guess I din't read the rules and regulations clearly enough. As for HORN PORN- I love it! Show me more. I do not apologize for liking big deer antlers, although the doe venison I am going to eat for dinner tonight is going to taste better.
