pistolp71
That what? A shotgun is as accurate as a rifle? Simply not true. Maybe you don't understand the definition of accuracy. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Culvercreek hunt club
Let me try this one last time. you have a .30-06 and you super special all custom 6mm. you take them to the bench at 100 yards and shoot a 3 shot group basically holes in a hole. which one of those rifles if more accurate? pistolp71
Just as suspected, you have no clue. You measure the furthest spread and deduct the caliber.only one will be more accurate. 99% of shotguns out there will not put 5 shots into one hole at 100 yards. Does yours? Now, do you need that kind of accuracy for most hunting in Ny? No, but the fact remains that MOST shotguns aren't as accurate as MOST rifles whether its needed or not. Plenty of places in Ny where shots beyond 100 yards are possible. bluecoupe
Sorry, when discussing hunting I define accuracy as: did I hit where I aimed and did the animal drop? If the answer to both of those is yes then it's accurate. We're not talking shooting matches here we're talking downing an animal. But, I'll still hole it at the range. You wanna bring out micrometers and do trig problems - than I'll restate: you're reading WAY too much into this. pistolp71
I think that may be issue here. Different views of accuracy. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

WNYBuckHunter
No, you just cant seem to admit you are wrong. If weapon a shoots the same hole at 100 yards and weapon b shoots the same hole at 100 yards, they are both accurate at 100 yards. What type of weapon they are is insignificant.
waterweasle
yeah well my dads gun can outshoot your dads gun anyday of the week...................geeeeez get over yourself and your bench guns being more accurate them brand x shotgun, no deer has ever been killed, then sat up and said to itself "man that gun was accurate!" pistolp71
I have no problem admitting I was wrong if I was. First like I said, most shotguns are not shooting one hole. And even if it did, you measure it to the rifle group and compare. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
WNYBuckHunter
One hole is one hole. Compare them and they are still one hole. Culver never said anything about most shotguns or most rifles. Again, you are talking around the issue being discussed.
pistolp71
This has nothing to do with my guns. Take 5 random shotgun hunters guns, most will be pumps or semis. And 5 random rifles hunters guns, most will be bolt actions. Go shoot them together and compare. Whether its needed or not one weapon is inherently more accurate than another. Just as certain calibers are. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
WNYBuckHunter
Btw, if my shotgun shoots the same hole at 100 and your 6BR shoots a cloverleaf at 100, then my shotgun is MORE accurate than your 6BR.

Compare bolt shotguns to bolt rifles or semi auto to semi auto.

waterweasle
well in that case, perhaps the 5 people that show up with the shotguns happen to show up with the most accurate rigs you've seen..........and the rifle guys show up with junkers that would have trouble hitting the ground when dropped.............there goes your stats
WNYBuckHunter
Im feeling the same way Bubba. Im not going to argue this anymore, its obviously pointless.
pistolp71
No you measure them and one will have a smaller number than the other. It's not subjective. But I have only carried it about 3 times in the last 5 years. I have seen 3 guns in my close circle that will do it. And we are talking factory ammo. Not hand loads as many sub MOA rifles are using. The component support just isn't there yet for shotguns. It is coming. Just curios. What part did I get wrong that you decides I didn't have a clue? Culvercreek hunt club
You are right. Clueless. You got me.
