Cabin Fever
NICE! Do you mainly use shotguns or rifles? What loads work well in shotguns to put 'em (and HOLD 'EM)down?
HOUNDS77
We use 12ga with 3 inch 00 or 000 buck or .22 mags. Our dogs catch alot of them.

HOUNDS77
Yea. I think we took 46 or 47 last year and the dogs killed 23 0r 25.
HOUNDS77
We use the garmin gps on our dogs. The collars are $150-200. Problem is, when the dogs catch the coyotes they always seem to bite the collars and ruining them. So here is the solution hopefully. Rubber padding. Five Seasons
Yea. I think we took 46 or 47 last year and the dogs killed 23 0r 25. that's crazy. Out of curiosity, can your dogs "turn it off and on" ok? Wondering how dogs that kill behave around kids and stuff.
PREDATE
Nice take so far LM. Still 2 months to go. May I ask what kinds of areas your dogs find them hunkered down in the daytime?
HOUNDS77
Kids and coyotes are two separate worlds!
Five Seasons
I don't think you really answered my question. I am by no means trying to start anything, just wondering how they are.

Usually laying on a bog in a swamp or some thick brush or low pines.
HOUNDS77
Curious why and how you would come up with a question like that? They are hounds, pets...not like those other breeds.
NFA-ADK
Nice, bring them to Moose River Plains! PS: Good dogs know the difference between a yote and a kid, lol. Do I need to post a video with kids and dogs hunting? Good job Hounds77 keep up the good work.
Five Seasons
i'm talking to a wall, so i'll let it go. Was just wondering how they "as a breed" were around kids, given that they are also trained to kill. that was all.
Doewhacker
Belo he answered you the first time but you don't understand for some reason. Shocker you missed the point. My dogs are fully capable of taking out a yote or what ever but are also the best dogs around kids you could ask for. I hope you understand that. Belo, no houndsman will tolerate a dog that shows any aggression toward humans, a good hound will run coyotes all day and kill when needed, then be your kids best friend
HOUNDS77
Belo, they are great with kids. In fact I run running walker foxhounds and they they tend to be a little shy toward people. They are not trained to kill. They are bred to run fox and coyotes. When they catch one alot of dogs will tuck tale and run. The strain I am running af grit in them and stand there ground. I hope you understand that. his answer is quoted above. The response "two separate worlds" did not answer my question. It could mean that they're separate activities and kids don't interact with his hounds. Or it could mean they're perfectly great together. I so do apologize for not understanding. I will put my dunce cap on and sit in the corner. Hounds, your last post answered my question perfectly. thank you. sorry this was made out to be more than it was... but your topic got more hits
