Brian Bo Garza
Just purchased a savage 220 to fight the winter blues. It came scoped but I got a great deal on a nikon prostaff BDC so I'm going to mount that with a Dmz mount. Can't wait to shoot it when the weather clears. Dinsdale
Bought one last fall, but didn't get a chance to hunt much with it. No complaints in the accuracy dept from me.
cdmckane
I LOVE my 220! I haven't hunted at all with my .30-06 since I got it. I've taken deer from 25-250 yds with it. I'm shooting Hornady SST 2 3/4"
Brian Bo Garza
Yeah DNZ. I did a little research and it was that or the Egw Pic rail with med rings. I'm sticking up on amo but can't find 3 inch slugs. So far I've got winchester gold bond, remington accutips, and federal trophy copper. I have Hornady sst already for my 1100. So what are the rest of you 220 shooters using? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Maybe you hunt the park??

fasteddie
I bought the shotgun but havn't shot it much . I tried some Federal Sabots as well as the Hornadays . I plan to try out the Remington Accu-Tips when the weather gets better .
MrGroundhog
I did a lot of research before purchasing the 220.. Went with the egw rail, med rings and a Nikon pro staff. A lot of people say the accutips shoot great out of them, and it's been very true for me and my cousin. We shoot the 2 3/4 slugs. But every gun is different. Btw it's probably my favorite gun. fasteddie
I bought the EGW Savage Base for $40 and installed a Redfield Scope . I had looked at Bushnells , Nicons , Leopolds , etc and like the Redfield best . It was manufactured in the Phillipines but the company is owned by Leopold . t_barb
I shoot 3" federal Barnes expanders... I bought a bunch when I bought the gun. They shoot amazing. I have shot touching 3 shot groups at 100 yards... That said they stopped making them and I am running out... Was planning on trying the federal replacement... Every time I have pulled the trigger with it I have taken a deer (with several of the shots being over 150 yards)... I can't say that about my other shot guns.... Now you know they are going to approve rifle for Livingston County for sure since you bought a new shotgun!! Maybe you hunt the park?? . Yeah they probably will go with rifle in Livingston now that I have this gun. I've heard from good sources that It will go rifle and that it won't. So oh well if it does in fact go rifle, another new gun maybe a 270. As far as what I'm going to feed it I'm not sure yet. I'm stocking up on three diff brands. Rem accu tips, federal trophy coppers and winchester partition golds. So hopefully it will like one or all of those. I get my Dnz mount tomorrow can't wait. t_barb
Does anyone have any experience with the Federal Trophy Coppers? My understanding is that is what the replaced the Barnes Expanders with... Just interested in understanding if the performance is similar (obviously it varies gun to gun, but..)... oblivitar
yeah, they replaced the expanders with the trophy hunters. Same thing just a gray tip instead of the blue
ants
My brother in law and his father are what I call "accuracy annal". They both hunt with 220's loaded with the SST's. They get amazing groups at 200 + yards.

fasteddie
A few months ago I was able to purchase a few boxes of Remington Accu-Tips for $12.37 per box with free shipping . $12,37 for 5 rounds is still pricey .
Brian Bo Garza
I found trophy coppers for 11 bucks. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
