These eastern coyotes really do have the appearance features of wolves. None of that gangly look of those scrawny pictures you see from out west. Our coyotes are very "blocky" and solid looking......like a wolf.

That's because they are part wolf Doc. There was a documentary on it recently. The easterns are in fact part wolf.

I agree it's a nice yote, but not German shepherd like. It's nowhere near 100lbs. It's probably a 40-50 lb yote

DNA wise, yes. But the coyotes in NY are nowhere near the intelligence or capabilities of killing when compared to an actual wolf

That is near where I plan to install my Ameristep Quad Pod . I want to put the Quad Pod on the bank of a very small pond overlooking the area where the yote is and also have a shot at something that may come across the horse trail that goes East-West across a large overgrown field .

Are the coyotes here in the east a separate sub-species from those scrawny moth-eaten things they have out west?
