Bore Butter

I was reading the topic below on bore butter.  Seems like a lot of people are against it.  I was told it was good stuff.  What is wrong with it and why don't you guys use it?

Not sure.  I've always used it and I haven't noticed any negative effects.  But I don't use water to clean my ML either and it sounded like that is where most of the complaints were aimed; the Bore Butter locked any remaining moisture in against the metal causing pits.

I switched a long time ago from butter to Lehigh Valley... now I use a mixture of denatured alcohol, and murphy's oil soap... that works great for patches... and you can put ball after ball in without cleaning

Ok as a patch lube.

It's a rust inhibitor - not a rust preventative.

Far better products out there - why use something that may work

when you can use something that will work.
