Skillet
Hey guys, I'm looking for some ideas as to where I can shoot some carp. I usually shoot Buck Pond, up by the lake in Greece. It's been a weird spring, and there's no spawning activity around yet. Just wondering if anybody's been having any luck around Rochester. Any ideas would be helpful. We used to shoot Russell Station, but that has died since they shut the power plant down. Here's a pic of my girlfriend's first carp ever. Lucky her, it was a grass carp, I've never even killed one of them. She killed it this year.
turkeyfeathers
Road trip !!! Waddington, New York, a small town along the St. Lawrence River, is considered the Carp Capital of the World! On Route 37, just east of the village of Waddington, is a fishing access / picnic area where people from all over the world can usually be seen fishing for carp. Buddy shoots them here and St Lawrence river. Grasse river offers great bass and musky fishing too. We float it every year.
philoshop
Congrats to your girlfriend! And to you for having a GF that knows how to shoot a bow!! I haven't bowfished in 30 yrs or so, but the Erie canal was always great back then. I built some outriggers and a platform for my canoe for just that purpose. Sure was a fun way to spend a lazy day on the water. Good luck.
moog5050
There are a ton of them on the dock at sodus point. Not sure if they would let you bow hunt there.
Lawdwaz
Lake Alice in Waterport has a pile of them. I've never hunted them but quite often see them jumping and people fishing for them. (on purpose)
