crfingnutz
When hunting stale lands such as Delaware State Forest or Bear Spring, is there actual parking areas with trail heads or do you just park anywhere along the side of the road? I have spent alot of time in Delaware and Sullivan counties and cant remember ever seeing parking for hunters, other then hiking trail heads. Thanks for your help. First-light
When I used to hunt state land in Roscoe you parked wherever you want.

Borngeechee
Does this go for all state parks? I'm gonna hit Sterling for the first time this season.
Mr VJP
Not State Parks, just State land. Call the park for info

phade
Be careful each public ground may be different in their rules. Some parks/grounds let you park anywhere, but some want you sticking to trailheads for various reasons (low/no shoulders, etc.). And if you do get caught, you get tickets/towed.
HuntOrBeHunted
As long as theres no sign's saying otherwise park off the side of the road.
NFA-ADK
Check with your local DEC if you are not sure, many parks you have to be in a designated area or you will get towed and or fine.
Elmo
Born, Sterling has designated parking spots.
Two Track
Sterling has some dedicate parking areas. some are seasonal parking only (as in hunting season). They do patrol and check for hunting permit on your dashboard (or at least occasionally) in the parking lots by some of the trail heads. Stewart, depends on when. Most of the year you have to use one of parking lots and hike/bike in. Big game season, they open the gate on the main road and you can only park at designated numbered spot. There 8-10 external parking spots, the rest are all accessed via driving in the main gate. Two of the state forests in Orange County I have been to have dedicated parking lots. Catskills may vary. I have seen some dedicated parking for 2-3 vehicles by some trail heads and no parking on shoulder signs along that same road in the Mongaup state park area of the Catskills. AaronBlaine
yea some places are different. Stuart was single car parking and you had to hunt in the direction of your designated parking spot. However sterling has parking areas with trail access in different locations of the park. While other places you can park on the side of the highway. Check with the dec if you have any questions about a specific spot that way your not worrying about it when it comes time to get in the woods!
