2012_taco
Any one replace the side cables on rivers edge or similar hang on tree stands? I noticed that the cables look rusted and the vinyl coating is pulled back on a couple of my stands and I would like to replace them before I put them back in use. I searched the web but can't seem to find replacement parts. There are several forums that suggest buying cable and ends from a hardware store but I don't trust making my own crimp connections. I would rather have something industrial built where it actually gets tested. Any thoughts?

Lawdwaz
I think if they are anything like the cables on Screaming Eagle stands it's a piece of cake. I have some that were replaced 25 years ago and still going strong. My friend Tom built a pile of stands back in the 80's and swedged his on crimps without the proper tool and the are still in use each year. He hangs 12-15 stands in the fall and they all get stored in the barn for the rest of the year. If you could come up with the crimping tool to do it and grab some of the lead slugs (or whatever they are) you'd be in Fat City. I know a guy (and you know his brother) who just uses the bolt on cable crimps on all kind of stands.
