First Day / Few Days for the Bow Season - What are you going to do?

No interest in does, unless it was a piebald or albino. With the xbow I'll probably take any buck if given a chip shot. Otherwise I typically pass smaller bucks early on in hopes of a bigger one. But this year is definitely different, now having 2 buck tags

small bucks are getting a pass at least in early bow season(trying to hold out for the 10 pointer on the trail cam)but the first decent doe to walk by might be in trouble. never brought home a fall turkey before so they are on the list too

First doe that it not a yearling is getting an arrow.

 

I didn't get any shot opportunities last year on does with the bow, and I passed a nice doe during gun in hopes of a buck following her but that never panned out.

 

So, this year I am not passing any decent doe.

My fiancé and I value the meat a lot, and we are practically out. My time in the woods is severely limited this year b/c of school, so I would love to put a doe down right off the bat, better yet, I would love if we both put a doe down right off the bat! I doubt it'll be that easy.

No time to fool around this year if I want to put one in the freezer. I'll try to tag out first week and then take off for the new job in Soldotna, AK. I plan to fly home to hunt opening firearm season and through Thanksgiving, then return to Alaska until next year. I'll leave the brother in law and nephews to hunt and keep people out this year.

: )    Thank goodness for this site to keep me from getting homesick. I will make believe I still here through all of your eyes.

I will save my doe tags for the youngsters during rifle season. I will be mature buck hunting all bow season except for the youth weekend. And, thanks to Bubba, I will remember no youths in a treestand this year.

 

I will be hunting the trails leading to and from the few remaining apples on the one farm I hunt. After the first hard frost, I usually head to the beech ridge. This is usually where I have the most sightings, and best luck. I will follow a member's advice this year, and be more aggressive in my stand placement before the rut kicks in.

 

One other thing that hurt last year in the early season was a huge standing cornfield about a half mile from me. I don't know how many deer were holding and bedding in there, but as soon as they started running the combine, the very next morning I was seeing a lot more deer. It is already being pick this year.
