Grandson got a 870-20g/ bird barrel for his birthday.Would like to buy him a rifled barrel,smooth bore buck barrel.

I have a good condition 20 ga smooth bore with sites. Does OK with Remington Sluggers, I used it a couple of year.

I would get him a slug barrel with  rifling and a cantilevered scope mount. the way that a 870 barrel attaches to the receiver, every time you change barrels or even tighten down the circular nut at the end of the magazine, the point of impact will change. But not with a scope mounted on a csntilivered barrel.

Yes, I would recommend you go a little deeper and get him the rifled barrel to go with that hotrod. I have a 20 with rifled and it’s a tack driver. Would take that thing deer hunting anywhere in the country. Those 20’s are sweet.

Yes the rifled with the cantilever scope mount really seems to be best choice.The 20g barrels are far and few between and extremely pricey.

Well grandson picked up his new 20,got home opened the box and found it camr with a bird and a rifled barrel.Saved me about $400
