Northcountryman
Well- we got 8 more days till the opener! I cant wait to get back out!! Havent fished in NY since last June , actually, but plan on gettin out more this spring. Problem is, where I'm livin now (Rockland Co.), not a lot of good Trout water in proximity thats convenient ; been doing most of my fishing in Jersey last yr or 2. You ready to wet a line?

Nytracker
I fly fished all winter for Ontario run steelhead and browns. Fished until the end of December for fingerlakes bows. Some of the stocked creeks near me are open year round. April first means crowded fishing will start. I never missed an opening day since I was 8 or 9 years old until sometime in my 30s. Now I work "opening day" and take my time off in the fall.

Northcountryman
Id like to try to Flyfish for Walleye this year; although its not the msot effective means , it is doable and would be rewarding to get a few on some deep running patterns. Daveboone
We usually use perch minnows....but get just as many with a little gob of worm. When the weather is real cold we used to use an ice dot with mousie grubs on them, tied above a minnow.

Daveboone
Nope. Cast out, slowly work it back in. I do have a boat which helps open options. Some guys swear by jigging for them for the big elephant perch, but I have always been jiggy deficient....
