PREDATE
No pic showed up bud. Are you still out there? If so, head home and resume the search in the morning. Do you feel like it was a good vital hit? How did the deer act after the shot?

BowWeldingJohn
The arrow dosen't seem to smell bad and I got about 4-5 inchs of blood on the arrow and the broadhead is not on the arrow. As for how the deer acted it droppdd right away got back up then walked triped (thats How I think the arrow broke then it ran away a few yards then I lost sight. PREDATE
broadside, high lung shot? She's probably dead (unless the shot was too high)
Mr VJP
Did you see any blood on the ground that you could trail?
ididnotvoteforobama
Sounds like a solid shoulder hjit , all bone , no penetration , no vitals . Let it go overnight and pick up the search in the morning . Pictures of the blood would help , but I think you got solid bone.
jjb4900
my guess is you hit in one of the vertebrae, that's what knocked it down due to the initial shock of the arrow impacting close to the spine and is what also resulted in the lack of penetration and broadhead snapping off....... PREDATE
sounds like a pass through and her opposite shoulder snapped the broadhead side off. That's good! So she's leaking out both sides. Edited October 28, 2014 by PREDATE
PREDATE
the blood trail will tell the tale. How far could you see her run after the shot?
Geno C
does the arrow have good blood? dropped from a high lung shot? cant see that happening unless it nipped the spine maybe but then again not sure how fast it would get up on a shot like that. any chance you may have drilled the shoulder or maybe off shoulder causing the deer to have that stumbling affect and lack of penetration? id say if you hit in either of those spots there is a chance of finding that deer, id just give it a little time. BowWeldingJohn
I've been able to trail blood for about 45-55 yards.
Geno C
give it time, let it sit a bit
Mr VJP
If you only got 5 inches of blood on the arrow, I believe you hit it high in the shoulder and probably missed the lungs. If you hit the spine, it would have dropped, but I think you were below it. You may have hit the shoulder and the arrow didn't penetrate into the vitals. Unless there is a blood trail or obvious tracks to follow, all you can do is look in the direction it was going when you last saw it. If that doesn't find it, you can walk in ever expanding circles from the last point of sign and hope you can locate it. If all else fails call for the trackers with the dogs to help you.
