Question From New Bowhunter

I'm going to try my hand at bowhunting this year.  I'll be using a Bear Archer Cruzer G2, which my nephew bought but never used.  I haven't shot a bow in 40 years, but I plan on taking it to a local range a bunch of times to practice.  (I wont hunt with it unless I'm confident that I can make the necessary shot.)

Do I need to bow hunt from a stand?  I'm not sure I'll have access to one.  If I don't, I guess I want to find high ground so my shot will be down?

Any advice on arrows and accessories would be greatly apprciated.

While many do use stands it is not an absolute, ground blinds both permanent and portable will work for concealment. Placement of your cover and the wind are big players. Get some practice in and become as proficient as possible, good luck to you.

No need to hunt from a stand and no need for the shot placement to be at a downward angle. You will be at a small disadvantage on the ground as you won't be able to see as far and any movement you make can be picked up easier by a deer. As Al mentioned if you can get into a ground blind that would be best. Old school is to make a ground blind out of fallen trees and branches.
