Right at sunrise someone let off 3 shots... I heard deer running through the swap on my right... I got ready as they were headed my way.... But they stopped... Shots were a few hundred yards away. Deer a little less...

Stay or go? How long till the move again?

Are deer as crunchy as us walking on these frozen leaves?

Much quieter than us. Listen for a branch snap and keep looking around, don't make any sudden movements or jerk your head around to see what made this or that noise.

not a bad spot , but if you can , next year I'd open up some more obvious shooting lanes.  you'd be surprised how small of a twig can ruin your shot.

Base layers are the most important thing. Do that right and you will be able to sit for longer periods. Just don't wear them all on your freak into the stand you will sweat like hell and then freeze

I wear 2 lower base layers a heavy and a mid weight... And 5 layers uptop. Heavy, mid and wicking... The pants and Becket I have are not insulted and better suited to fall conditions... Such is life on a small budget to get started for my first season

Lol I got bottom wicking two thermals huntin pants then wool bibs on today. Top 6 layers. Gloves, 2 neck gators two fleece hats and hand muff!
