ants
Last time I made it out of fish that I caught, I used Crappie. But right around X-mas I used ocean perch that was dirt cheap at the local grocery store. Both were awesome. My recipe is very similar to yours but I like to add a splash of clam juice ( from a can of canned clams) a hand full of frozen corn, some diced potatoes and Okra. dbHunterNY
I've known people to use all kinds of fish. I've never really made it but I've had some really good bowls in my life. I'll have to be bold and ask.
Dom
This chowder turned out good.I think the next time I will try some whiting or sucker's when the ice leaves the creek's.
Culvercreek hunt club
I have done it with Pike and tiger muskie. Came out very nice. I steamed the fillets in cheese cloth prior to adding to the chowder so it could be flaked easily and any 'Y" bones removed.
