NO. There is no need to gut a deer you are quartering to pack out. Packing them out is MUCH easier then dragging them especially when long distance or up hill is involved. My pack is a meat packer designed just for that job. It is an Eberlestock J107 dragonfly. There are places in the Adirondacks where dragging just is not practical.
