growalot
Well for someone else at least...Got the word from the Dr. today..." Do you want those knee replacements sooner than we figured on?".." Lifting weights in a controlled setting such as a gym is way different than carrying even 35-40 #'s, over uneven ground!" "You just can not do it any more." It has effected the old break in my leg putting strain in the connective tissue around the plate they put in..so the whole leg has been swelling.....Good news...the BP is low enough that at my next visit if it is still that low he'll start weaning me of the Lisinipril. I can bee keep at home but with help and equipment...like the Gator and dollies to haul hives...Now I have to tell the guy...and feel bad... growalot
Well he knows I'm resourceful...I find my "physicals humorous"...He looks at the weight lost, 10#'s,BP listens to my heart looks in my ears and throat...then says hows the knees and checks...other than that, we talk about hunting...the gym...weather..Farming....being a grandparent...(kids doctor )...for he knows I go to my "ladies Docs", dentist ,and those lovely "after 50 exams" ...He really has little to do ...other than scold be for being me...lol Though I know those conversations are his way of getting me to confess to doing things I shouldn't...like the lifting and carrying those hives...He gave me a story of being waist deep in snow on their farm...I know what that was about..but fooled him by saying the snow has pretty much kept me out of the woods other than feeding the chickens.... philoshop
Here's an early Happy Birthday to you Growalot! My brother's is tomorrow as well. It's no fun having body parts wear out. I've gotten to the point where I hire construction laborers just to bend down and pick up my tools for me.

Two Track
Get an assistant for the bee heavy work, or cash it in. I like the honey, but my dad had us do most of the honey extraction in August (this would be south of the Mason-Dixon line). So I don't miss the work. It really sucked - no airflow in the garage, the echoes of the running extractor were very loud. I only helped out in the field twice (happen to be allergic to bee stings) so I contructed/repaired the supers, assembled frames, painted the boxes, extracted the honey, and bottled it. There were some phone calls for dad sometimes when he was working on the honey, if they didn't know he had bees, they got the wrong idea when mom would say "hold on, he is in the garage working on his honey." Their response was normally "ugghh, I'll call back later". Transporting hives also got my dad out of a traffic stop, a hive start to break open. Officer came over the speaker, and said just move along and you have a hive box coming open and left. We had to educate my wife about bees and honey production/processing, making your own apple sauce and apple cider. They just have no idea in Brooklyn. Now she is no longer a city girl, but not yet a country girl.
