I'll tell you...last night Angel pawed my back ...when I didn't respond she slowly climbed up and straddled me,then  laid down between me and the edge...She was quaking, shivering, whining...I turned and held her thinking it could be a heart attack. I tried to comfort her...and thought I heard her give a high whine every once in a while...then my brain woke up and I realiized the whines were evenly spaced and she wasn't settling down and her nose was wet and cold...She was also on high alert though shaking...Our carbon alarm was going off...I went down stairs...mind you Mr B still sound asleep..to check burners on gas stove all our windows were open..I finally woke Mr B...the batteries were low...Angel and I took a moon light stroll while he fixed it...She slept under his side of the bed  and settled down finally 2:44 am...Now that is a good dog We had slept through the low battery beeping and she wasn't going to let anything happen to us in our sleep...
