teamcowboyup
So last weekend I checked last years stand and the brush was shoulder high. So I took my bucket loader down and cleared most of it out surrounding the stand and apple trees. Before I did this there was a lot of sign in this spot now nothing. How long before you all think they will be back?
Kludes
Some will be back but I'm sure you spooked some that won't ...but I'm sure with the apple trees they will be back soon.
genesee_mohican
If you removed a lot of vegetation it may take them a while to get used to the new look. As far as time, it depends if the local deer are used to the smell of grease ect from farm machinery or other equipment in the area. But at least you'll have good shooting lanes and the coming rains will help wash out a lot of odor so that will help. In the future, you would want to set aside some time to do this a few mos prior to the season so it has time to quiet down.
NFA-ADK
Hard to tell, what type of sign are we talking about? Next question is when will the apples ripen and fall? Any other food source around? I would think if you disturbed the area recently you might not see any action for a couple weeks or when the apples start to fall good. Otherwise the rut is only 3 weeks away, they will be back during that time for sure if no other food source is available. I would say it really depends on how much human scent you left behind, this rain should was most of it away and the deer will hopefully be back this week. teamcowboyup
This is one of them spots you can only get to if its dry. Basically one nasty swamp. As in sign no tracks at all and before I did and of this I had runs on top of each other. But as far as apples there are a few dropping but not many but my upper stand the apples at covering the ground.
Doc
Eventually there should be nighttime tracks, and nocturnal use of the area may stay that way for a while, maybe even the entire apple drop season. Apparently they didn't like that level of disturbance too much.

G-Man
Kind of late to clear that much, hope they come back in daylight for you, I see the same thing happen when guys, clear brush for food plots, destroy a great area and make it a desert except at night when deer come to feed... growalot
I'm trying to figure out why he would do that instead of just cutting a few shooting lanes and leaving the cover. If the brush were brambles they are the best late season food ,for they will stay green after the frost has knocked down most everything else...
