Ear corn

Went out yesterday and i was sitting up in my ladder stand and a grey squirrel with an ear of corn came by me and buried it. I was kinda shocked cause the closest corn field was 1/2 mile away. I went to another spot on my property for night stand and found more corn and empty cobs. Do ya think an animal could have carried it 1/2 a mile?

Some of the best Squirrel hunting is forest land that borders corn fields, Squirrels will travel a long way to get corn especially this time of year when it is hard and dry on the ear. I have found husks and partial ears of corn several hundred yards back in the woods from the fields. I also know Coons will also carry corn back to their dens.

A mile is not far for a deer to go for corn about a 15 minute walk... squirrels will drag corn a long ways, so do nuthatches, had one tucking kernels in a cherry trees bark almost 1/2 mile from standing corn field, whole one side of tree was yellow dotted where ever it could wedge a piece of corn under bark edge.
