I have a Crosman STORM XT pellet rifle and have been using copperhead .177 7.9gr pointed pellets.I have 2 questions what do you all use for pellets also what scope would you/I attach to this?

Go low power on the scope. I have a Crossman pump pellet pistol I 've had for 35 years and it and the pointed pellets (not sure what kind ) have drastically reduced the bunny numbers in my urban backyard. Last one was heart shot and didn't even twitch.

I shot a pop can at 30 feet or so with a target pellet (flat nose) . It dented can with no penetration . I then shot a pointed pellet from same spot and it made hole thru both sides with no dent at all.

I bought my son an RWS M48 Diana side lever .22 pellet rifle for his 12th birthday. It will shoot heavy round nose Kodiak pellets through 1" rough sawn pine with enough snot left over to make a pretty good thud on what is beyond. As 60 yds those same pellets will completely penetrate a 1 gallon milk jug filled with water.

 

I ended up using medium weight Crossman Premier pellets. In my barn's hay loft it will penetrate a pigeon's breast & make a pretty good whack when it hits the wooden roof deck.

I use whatever pellet is most accurate out of the rifle, mine happens to like the JSB Match Diabolo Exact in 8.4gr very well. I've purchased enough pellets to last me a lifetime with my .177 rifle. This pellet is a domed pellet, and I've only had one occasion where I recovered a pellet from a squirrel. The pellet penetrated the full length of the squirrel and broke a shoulder bone and stopped at the hide.

I Like the JSB pellets, they have produced good results in both accuracy and hunting. As for a scope because of the shorter ranges that an air rifle can be used effectively you must have a scope that can eliminate parallax. All dedicated air rifle scopes should be good and also good quality 22 rimfire scopes work well.
