Geno C
has anyone looked into a "Multi Quote" function? where you can quote more then one persons quote at a time? and also a quote function that will quote the guy you intend instead him and the guy he quoted? it will shorten up threads alittle instead of having everyone quoting eachother... just a thought... Geno C
sure, you just did multi quote is a way of quoting more then one person at once in "ONE" post.... instead of quoting 5 people in 5 seperate posts...
WNYBuckHunter
You can do it manually. John would know if it would be available in the software though.
bubba
I personally do not get the whole premise of quoting anyway, other than for an argument from what I see. If I already read the post being quoted, I will not read it again. I start at the beginning and read a whole thread, I pretty much can follow it. fasteddie
What is a real waste of space is when someone postsand then someone posts 4 or 5 pics with a statement and then someone quotes that post . When you are replying to a post and want to respond to a certain part of the quote , you can delete part of the posted quote rather than have 30 lines of something unnecessary . Geno C
the premise of quoting is not to argue as some may do oh so well. but it lets a guy know you are responding to his post in particular... every other form i belong to has a multi quote function. i was just asking. my main point is that on other forums where quoting does occur, you can quote just his comment and not the comment he quoted. it takes up alot of thread space they way it is now. You can do what I just did and eliminate the main comment .......... :
Doc
my main point is that on other forums where quoting does occur, you can quote just his comment and not the comment he quoted. it takes up alot of thread space they way it is now. To eliminate the string of quotes and reduce it all to just the last actual reply, I manually delete quotes that aren't necessary. Also if I want to add quotes from other messages, I do that manually too by hitting the little "quote" icon in the reply toolbar then cut and paste the quote that I want to insert. It's all a bit messy and cumbersome, but I don't do it that often, so the work-around does work. That's the only way I have found to manage quotes. MuzzyLoader
I tried doing what you said Doc... but it came out all jibberished. It's the Indian - not the arrow! :-\
Geno C
ive tried that too doc, i just dont think im deleting the right part of the quote, i know you leave the begingin code and end code i just cant seem to get it to work right lol
Doc
*quote author=name of replier link=topic=108.msg41467#msg41467 date=1296091060] *quote author=embedded quoter link=topic=108.msg41428#msg41428 date=1296085214] Blah –blah, blah, blah blah blah [/quote* More blah – blah, blah, blah [/quote* Now you could add in your reply here. ----------------------------------------------------------- The part of the reply that I have shown struck-out, is what I would delete if I wanted to get rid of an embedded quote. Note that I have replaced the "[" and "]" with some *'s in a few places. This was just done for illustration purposes so that the forum software would not automatically hide the code and display these things as quotes. That is how I was able to display the code to show what gets deleted. Those brackets would have to be lined out as well. Yeah, I know ....... clear as mud ....lol.
