Organizing gear

Just wondering how everyone keeps their gear organized in a pack. I try to group similar items together in zip lock bags and then put them in a single compartment pack with the items I use most on top. One zip lock will contain my "after the shot" gear such as drag, butt out tool, and knife which will be at the bottom of my gear. I also have first aid/emergency bag and a few others but sometimes this seems like a poor way to organize things. Looking to see what some of you other guys do as far as storage. I've also heard some people vacuum seal some gear as opposed to the zip locks. So, what's in your pack?

I have used the same camo backpack for years. I always put the same things back into the pockets I've designated for them years ago that way I know where to find them .Same goes for my turkey vest.   And I also put gutting gloves, knife, butt out, zip ties in large Ziploc baggie to keep them together, extra hats, gloves and such go into one pocket, camo rain umbrella, food, water ,coffee into another. It's nice and easy to know where things are after all these years of keeping them in their "own " special spots of the pack

If I had to worry about organizing my gear I would take 3/4 of it out. Even all day hunts in the ADKS I use a half full small fanny pack. I don't like carrying a bunch of crap. Grunt tube compasses gps guting gloves piece of rope knife life straw and granola bar, between my pockets and my pack nothing is stuffed full and I know where everything is.

I use two different setups based on length of time being spent out in the field.

For half day or morning/evening hunts in decent weather I use a good sized fanny pack with the shoulder straps to carry the minimum necessities. Grunt tube, small flash light and headlamp, 3 knifes, a few zip ties, gutting gloves, small bottle of aspirin, beanie and face mask, water bottle, small spray bottle of scent killer, one or two of the Tinks scent bomb things with the wafers that you hang from tree branches (double purpose of these is for marking yardage...usually set one out at 20 and 30 yards to help guess range if I don't have a range finder with me) and can't forget a small drag rope!

All day sits or all day hikes during gun season I'll use my badlands super day pack. It has everything my fanny pack has (literally buy double of everything to match supplies in each pack). Extra pair of socks and based on temps I throw in a extra layer or two if I need it. Packed lunch in zip locks. In this pack I carry more survival stuff as well, compass, fire starter stuff like dryer lint in pill bottles. Small flint striker. TP. Camel back full of water. And anything else that I would need to get through a night or two in the woods if I had to. After my years guiding I've got my packs pretty much setup to be ready to roll at any time and have everything you'd need without too much extra crap weighing you down. It's like a science lol
