Heading to adks tomorrow for a few days to bear hunt with an friend who needs to get out and about. Unfortunate few months for him so hopefully getting out in the woods away from the city and life for a few days bring him some good. Maybe we will see something...only bad part is bear only with a gun. O well still be fun

Best of luck to you and your buddy !
Pack your rain gear, they have no answer this storm is tracking after landfall.
I am packing the truck tonight and be in the woods up North by lunch tomorrow myself..

Thank you and good luck as well....bowhunting?

I thought about bringing my bow but I don't feel like lugging it up there to sit on ground with buddy...

Yes, the bow !!

The wife and I are having a getaway to camp and she loves her "diamond" bow.

The stands have been out, the cameras working around the clock for weeks, the shooting lanes have been cleared and all we need is deer moving and we will be a happy couple..

Good luck out there.  I don't know how much bear hunting you've done in the ADK's, but I've been up there the past few weekends and it has been slow, with little movement or sign.  That's probably due to the somewhat warm weather we've been having up there.

It seems to be cooling down this coming weekend, so that's good.

I go up once a year normally this weekend or next have a spot that has a active den on it every year I see sign around it but have yet to see anything around lol....eventually it's gotta show while I'm around

That's a smart move.  If I could find a verified den site, I'd probably use that same approach.  For as big and clumsy as black bears seem, they sure are good at staying quiet and hidden in the woods.  I've heard one outdoor writer refer to them as the "ghost of the woods."  Without a good layer of snow, it's pretty tough to still hunt them up here.

I'm up here myself, probably looking to do some turkey hunting near the Blue Ridge Wilderness...those damn things are all over the place on Rte 28 when I drive up here.  Of course I brought my rifle too, so if I see a bear or bear sign, I'll likely make a quick trip back to the truck to change out firearms and go bear hunting.  There are some great opportunities up here...you just need to have a rough idea of where you want to focus your efforts.

Yea I'll be in pigeon hill wilderness. 3 years ago maybe 4 we had a light snow the weekend we were there and ended up following the tracks to this den. It's how we found it been going back yearly and it seems to still be active there is a stream nearby that has had some tracks in the mud around it. Just a matter of time to find it. I love it up there had a Martin in a tree in front of us 2 years ago mad that we were there was a cool thing to see.

How did your hunt turn out?

It turned out to be a beautiful day today where I was in the Central ADK's.  Cold, but beautiful.  It feels like the chill is just now getting to the point where animals, and people for that matter, really have an incentive to get up and move in order to stay warm and find food.
