Last year we had 2 with collars in area. I called dec was told Cornell was doing a 5 year study for them. They were brought in from other areas. They wouldn't say where. Asked about shooting them. Was told it was fine to take them they just asked that if we did for us to call them so they could get collar back.

Be interested in knowing more about this Cornell study. Hard for me to understand what useful info they could get from transplanting & tracking a deer? Other than dramatic changes to habitat and how the deer adjust. FYI - Most of these Cornell studies/projects are funded by the DEC through revenue from license fees. We're paying, so hoping it has some useful & realistic goal.

Those collars might be a great flavor enhancer for tag soup. lol

I was told it was to study there moement. Also tat there were 2 young black bear . 150 pound males with collars dropped in the area along with a couple other animals but he couldn't  tell me what the others were. I got some cam pics of both bear for a few days not toget her but never far apart. One had a white collar the other was orange. Called to let them know bear with white collar seemed to be gone. They said that bear was being tracked back where he was trapped within 4 days of release. This was in Wyoming county and bear was trapped in bully hill forest the other side of Allegany county. Pretty good diistance. We never saw the deer or bear during season nor heard of them being taken. Haven't  seen them since before last season.
