Help new to muzzleloaders

Just bought a new muzzleloader today. Was wondering how much of a charge should I use for 250gr bullet?

Are you using pellets or 209?

I use 120g BY VOLUME of 209 but that is on the high side. Most use less.  My gun is accurate with that charge.  With pellets you can use 2 or 3.  Check which is more accurate from your ML.

I use pellets and I use 2 pellets (each 50 grains so a total of 100 grains).  What ever you decide on, make sure you're consistent.

What kind of muzzle loader is it ? You might find one of has the same one and can pass the recipe on for what works good.

T/C Triumph .50 cal. with 3 pellets of 777and 300 gr XTP bullet., Nikon Omega scope with BDC reticle , I'm dead nuts at 250 yds. Only use 3 pellets or 150 gr.   if your gun manufacturer allows a magnum load.

Sitting in my ground blind with my Winchester Apex Magnum ML at the moment. 250 grain shockwaves with 2 50 grain 777 pellets is the magic number. I've shot 150 grains before and noticed zero difference at 100 yards. Not sure you get a full burn on 150 grains anyhow. Put 3 in the freezer with it last year.  FYI. Put some real good optics on it. You'll be happy you did

My 50 cal Cva apex and my dad's Cva accura v2 both love 300g Shockwave with 100g of blackhorn 209 with a federal shot primer. Both using the BH209 breech plug.
