Buckmaster7600
I have been shooting a longbow for 3 years now and today when I was shooting I made the decision that next year is the year that I will hunt with one. I have shot it well for the last year and a half but didn't feel confident enough with it to make the switch for hunting and have always used the compound as a crutch. I sold my backup compound a week ago with plans of buying a new bow this winter but today I called my buddy who wanted to buy my main bow and asked him if he still wanted it and he came to pick it up a couple hrs ago. I will probably be in for a few deerless years but I'm ok with that. All this year I never felt into bow hunting like I always have and I know it's because I want more out of it. I hunted with a recurve for a couple years when I was a teenager and a bad shot that wounded a doe that I know a compound would have killed turned me off. I'm super excited and I'm going to be ordering a custom longbow next week.Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Gencountyzeek
I actually just picked up a browning explorer 1 and a browning cobra 1 from my mother in law today. I was told they were my wife's fathers. He died when she was 9. I got them because I started shooting lefty last year (I'm left eye dominant ) I was told these were leftys. However when I got them home I believe they both are righties. I still plan on trying them out with the hopes of taking them hunting next bow season. If I keep my shots inside 20 yards I think it might work out. We will see how I shoot ofcourse.

moog5050
Good luck Buckmaster. If you can shoot well at a target with the longbow, there is no reason you won't do the same on a deer. You looking at Omega?
rachunter
go for it man you seem like a reasonable enough guy to know your limits. i had an old bear grizzly recurve i really wanted to hunt with after two years of daily practice i knew it would never happen and sold it. good luck with the new adventure

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk I prefer a higher recurve grip but I hear good things about Omega longbows. The owner is a member of tradtalk and on the site regularly. Seems like a good egg. Not critical of other bowyers nor tooting his own horn too much. Hope you find the exact bow you want.
