The_Real_TCIII
I got this great lumber from a neighbor, I'm thinking bar top. I've been wanting to build a small bar for my basement and now I'm motivated Can anyone tell me what it is? Ash? kpkot
Do you have a planer? Looks like some solid hardwood, I'm guessing maple.

philoshop
Top piece in the top photo is cherry (American). Bottom photo is black walnut. Both boards are through-and-through sliced for max yield rather than max quality, and appear to be air-dried rather than kiln-dried, which can cause problems later on. Put the boards in your basement with lots of airflow between them for a year or so, where they will become acclimated to their new home, and then build and enjoy. PM me if you want more details.

grampy
I like the roughness of the wood! Gives it a rustic look. Coats of clear poly will make it nice and smooth.
