First-light
I'm in the city of Corning and need a new drain installed from house to sewer. 4'pvc will do the job. Any idea what cost I'm looking at?? Thanks, FL
growalot
A whole lot of money!! But if you need a 4' diameter from the house to main..... you have bigger problems then Doc...lol If it is only a 4' section...you must be sitting right on top of the culvert ditch...which I could see as another problem... hunter
I'm guessing he means 4" diameter and the pipe is not the problem. The excavation and repairing sidewalk and street are the costly part. Good luck.

The Engineer
Hold up, I am a plumber and an engineer. Some questions What makes you think you need a new line?Do you have a back up (clog)?Do you just need a section of pipe installed. Give me a run down of the situation. Can't do it for you but I may be able to help you by asking the right questions.

Can't do it for you but I may be able to help you by asking the right questions. Last weekend had a backup into the first floor toilet and bath tub. Called a plumber and they did the clean out of the pipe from house to sewer. Said it was an old tarpaper pipe that needed to be fixed. They said they came upon an area during the clean out that didn't seem right, was giving them issues. They said it was most likely a break in the pipe. I'm not pulling the trigger on this one. I want more estimates and alternatives. Any help you can send my way would be appreciated. FL Edited April 14, 2017 by First-light
The Engineer
OK getting a little clearer. Were you there when the snaked the pipe? It sounds like they may have hit roots which is possible with that pipe. How far in did they find the obstruction. How far down is your waste pipe in the ground when it leaves the house. How long of a run is it? You can rent a small machine and dig next to the existing pipe and run a 4" pipe and connect both ends with a fitting called a furco fitting. It's a rubber sleeve with a hose clamp on both sides that slips over both pipes. Very easy but you have to be able to run a mini excavator. Also get your property marked out for the utilities. That could be another major issue. Keep feeding me info, you can get through this

Adkhunter1590
Keep getting estimates. Guy I work with had the same problem. He was quoted 5-7 by a few and then found a guy who did it for 2k. He said something about instead of digging up the yard to replace the pipe they cut it at the street end and then pulled it back into the basement and cut it into sections to get it out of there. And then pushed a new pipe through the old hole. I've never heard of something like that being done before but apparently it can be. Not sure if that would work in your situation but it goes to show what getting a bunch of estimates will do, you may find someone with a better and cheaper idea.
BizCT
I had a backup last August. They came and snaked it and had to bust through a bunch of roots. Not sure how long it took for it to get that bad since I only owned the house for about a year at the time. This year I'll get snaked in August to see how bad it is 1 year later so I know how many years approx I can go between snake jobsSent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

fasteddie
When they put sewers in our area we had to have the septic tank pumped busted up and filled in .About half way where the sewer line comes out of the house and to the road there is a clean out . With all my brilliance I put a metal coffee can on top of it . Well , I can't find the darned thing with my metal detector and havn't needed to but every so often I give it a try .
