Clover plot

Looks fairly big!  I'm hoping for something similar next year.  Did you have to spray it?  I'm a big clover fan because it comes up so early, and I've seen deer dig through snow to get to it.

No i dont use chemicals on my property, i have a stream that trout spawn in (as per the DEC)  and although this plot is a couple hundred yards away from stream, i dont like taking chances of chemicals seeping into the stream. I could use chemicals, but never chose to. Once the plots are established (following spring) I mow my  clover plots regularly so they can compete with natural grasses. This natural approach has worked many years for me. Instead of using chemicals what i do is till my fields let them sit for a couple weeks, then disc. and also use a drag to get a good seed bed. I agree the clover is a big attraction over winter, they dig thru the snow like crazy to get to the clover. Some fields with snow look like bombs went off all over...lol..i also have another clover plot that sits a couple hundred yards above this one that i planted last spring as well and thats getting hammered just as much.
