Balloon Festival

Any of you local guys going? the glow is at Brae Burns tonight at dusk...a garage sale at every other house all over town... actually saw some neat things driving by a couple of places...!...lol

No hot air balloon enthusiast in the  Finger Lakes area? We usually get one or two that fly over each year.

We had one land in our hay lot a bunch of years ago. Also, we were down to Letchworth one year when they had a he balloon festival going. What a weird site that was.

Few yeas back one was practicing landings in a field I was turkey hunting in .

I had an urge to touch one off just for grins . I looked them up on the interweb and asked them not to practice there for the month of May .

They offered to take me up for free, I passed .

Ha-ha .... being one that is afflicted with a severe fear of heights, I can just imagine me hugging the bottom of the basket. Yes that would be a real fun time for me. However, for most people, I can imagine that it is a fun thing to be way up there with nothing but the sound of the air going by. What a view that must be. Especially over the gorge at Letchworth when all the trees are turned.

In my infrequent travels to Dansville, I noticed the gliders looping around. That would be a hoot to have someone fly me around in one of those. Hot air balloon....not so much. Been to the Wellsville balloon rally. OK I guess.

My Mom attended and took a ride in one when she was 80...The pilot told her she was the oldest person he ever took aloft....She thought it was pretty cool...Just the idea of it scares the crap out of me !

Me and my girl went twice to those "Hot air balloon" events. One was in Letchworth State Park, which was to have 25 balloonists, the other was at Niagara University College and had 50 to celebrate 50 years. Problem was, the weather at Letchworth, there was a thunder storm a few miles away so they didn't go up!!! Not around the corner for that trip.

The other one at Niagara university, was a little too windy!!! So they didn't go up either. Last time driving all those miles to only hear that they aren't going up. Been there done that.....never again.
