New Arrow Rest

The old adage, if it ain't broke don't fix it.  Well I'm a bone head.  My Bear Strike was shooting high 260's with a 450 grain arrow.  I was using a Whisker Biisquet on it.  A frined out west suggestsed that I can get another 10 or 12 FPS going to a fall away type rest.  I bought the NAP Appache on sale at the local Dicks Sporting Goods.  So when I was inatslling it I had the bow drawn to check the length of the rope to the bus cable..... yup you guessed it, I was about 1/3 of the way drawn when the bow dry fired.  It doesn't seem to have broke, I haven't had a chance to shoot it yet.  Anyway,..... does anyone use the fall away style rests?

I use a fallaway and like it tremendously. I do not have a problem with my arrow falling off the rest(the main reason to get a whisker biscut). I have friends that use a whisker and it does wear especially if you shoot a lot. The fall away doesnt wear nearly as fast as  my old flipper fingers(tm hunter) so replacing the shrink tube hasn't been an issue as of yet. And best of all when i finially got it tuned it i did increase my accuracy although by a minimal amount.

Dryfire will put the energy that was supose to be put into an arrow into the bow itsself. This can cause broken string strands/limb damage(cracks) damage to limb pockets. next time you draw back you bow limbs may explode, string break, ect. the worse that will happen will be impalment by limb pieces or by the arrow itself  as it will be knocked off and do a myrad of different things, string may whip and take out an eye or cut the face, arm, just a few worse case examples, none of them good.

Thanks, I might regret this yet,.... too soon to tell.  Just llike hunting with bolt action rifles, I'm a big fan of the keep it simple plan.....  The WB was simple.

You can always switch it back if you don't like it, plenty of time before season to work the kinks out. I shot a WB and love it and will not switch.

eddie, why couldn't you use the quick spins with the WB?    just wondering...

The Quik Spins have little tabs on the vane that would drag on the WB .

I had tried a QAD Ultra awwow rest on two different . Neither myself or the shop guy could get good enough clearance with it . It is similar to the RipCord Rest .
