Great win on the road.  My hat is off to Evoldi.  Pearce was a huge pickup, especially with Moreland dinged up. 
Guess they need to drill JBJ, right Crappy!

Well since you asked my opinion....no! retaliatory intensional HBP is not as effective as STRATEGIC HBP.
Hitting a dude for hitting a big dinger is a bit like closing the barn door after the pigs ran out and shows too much respect/fear/ acknowledgment of the hitter’s success.
Starting a game by drilling the lead off hitter during the first at bat changes the tone of the game; wakes up your team; takes away the inside zone for the opposing pitcher; frustrates your opposition so they hopefully play with their emotions and swing at shit pitches, etc. That’s a STRATEGIC HBP!

If the Spankys threw it in game 1, I would still be watching baseball now instead of reading posts about hunting hiking trails and how food looks like vomit!

Good win for the Sox (red or white??? Doesn’t matter!)

So drilling a guy for no reason (ie he didn't DO anything), and most likely starting a beanball war, is strategic.  Who know?  


Crappy has to love Joe Kelly then. He drilled Bregman with 100mph pitch after Bregman kept stepping out of the box.
