Steve D
Found this little guy this morning on the deck. I am assuming he flew into one of the patio doors. He can still fly a short way and was able to make it to a feeder. With a forecast of 40 mph winds and rain I knew he wouldn't make it in the upcoming storm. We called around looking for a rehabilitator but the closest one we could find said just get him out of the weather and see how he does. So for right now he is in a box still kicking and will eat out of the container we gave him. Sure hope he makes it. It would really suck to fly all the way here from South America only to die.

Steve D
Update: He stayed in the box all afternoon and we checked on him occasionally. Each time we checked he was in the same spot but still breathing. Around 4:00 we noticed his beak was sticking out of the box so my wife placed a towel over it. At about 4:15 I went to check him and make sure he didn't suffocate and when I raised the lid he tried to climb out. Not wanting him to get loose in the house and kill himself I quick shut the lid. At 4:30 I could hear him buzzing inside the box. Now the winds are 25 plus miles an hour and I really don't want to turn him loose so it is either turn him lose or take the chance he wouldn't kill himself in the box. I had originally planned to keep him overnight and turn him loose in the morning after the winds died down but when I heard the buzzing I figured he was ready to go so I stepped out on the porch and raised the cover. He sat there for a few seconds and took off like normal in the 25 mph winds so hopefully he is alright and I will see him again. I also saw two bucks today with antlers up about 8" and forked. Great day so far
