Probably a fish that was injured, possibly  caught and released by a fisherman who hoped/ assumed it would live...

Hard to believe even an eagle could catch a perfectly healthy muskie that size, unless it was floating and already struggling  for its life...

Not a Muskie but a couple years ago on Silver Lake I spotted a northern pike cruising along with his head and I believe gills out of the water. We got fairly close to him before he headed back down.  Weird but neat to see. 

Common or not common to see??????

A bald eagle could have snatched him....

Fish coulda been hurt before the eagle got to it, but if an eagle whacks it good from the start... those talons can do done real damage

I'm with Teddy Roosevelt, should have been the American Grizzly for the national animal, but you have to respect the Baldies game!

Yes, but I wonder if they would have been protected??  If so, we wouldn't have so much fun chasing them in the spring.
