Hornady black

Has anyone used the hornady black specifically 7.62x39 on deer ?

I have not used it on deer yet, but since it has the Hornady SST bullet in it, which is a proven deer killing bullet, I see no reason it shouldn't give excellent performance on deer in the field.  

It sells for twice the price of the soft point PPU ammo I have killed deer with though.  The PPU ammo has worked fine so I don't think I will pony up the cash for the Hornady Black ammo unless I were to use the Mini 30 on a once in a lifetime trophy deer hunt somewhere.  That's highly unlikely though.

It is being used in my mini 30, I bought it at runnings on sale for 21 a box. Needless to say i bought all they had . 

Been using Remington  cor lok past 20 plus years in it .

I buy Prvi Partisan (PPU) brass cased soft points for $9.99 a box.  The stuff has better than average velocity and great accuracy.  Just meat and potatoes bullet in them, but they do the job every time.

I will be using Hornaday black (6.5 grendel 123 grain) on deer this year, multiple forums and gelatin test show very similar to sst.

Does the 6.5 grendel use the sst or different bullet I dont recall . If it shoots accurately I will be using it . I have yet to sight in with it yet.

It is available with the ELD Match bullet and the SST bullet.

I use it with my 450 bushmaster and seems to be very accurate on paper, will hopefully be able to get test results on deer this season.

Ive used the hornady black eld-m bullet on 2 deer in 6.5 grendel. First was a good sized buck. Shot was maybe 65 yards,bullet hit shoulder blade and never exited. Found the jacket under the skin opposite side. Second was was a small doe, hit in the ribs at 80 yards. Pass through. Both deer dead in 50 yards.
