Mandatory Evacuation

I live in Broome Co. and was awaken this morning(1:30 am) with a recorded phone messsage telling me that there was a mandatory evacuation for all low land homes in the Town of Windsor that are along streams and the river.I live on top of a mountain and have been here for 33 years and have never had any water problems. Right now I have 2 ins. of water in my cellar and my roof is leaking around my chimney from all the rain. I had a new roof put on 5 years a go.There so much water in the ground that there is no place for it to go but down hill. I feel so sorry for the people down low. May god be with them.

Personally, I'm getting sick of this damned rain. It's just completely out of control, in my opinion. Thankfully, though, at least it's not snow-we'd be buried right now!

It really is a terrible thing for people living in that area. I get some flooding problems occasionally, but it is really minor compared to what has been going on in areas of the northeast this year. My flooding amounts to having my driveway sealed off for a few hours ata time and happens maybe once or twice a year. Yup, a real pain in the neck, but nothing that threatens our buildings or our lives. I hope the impact over there remains minimum from this 2nd round of rain.

Good luck to you guys up there. Don't take any chances. 5-10 inches of rain is way too much for any area.

Count your lucky stars your not in Texas....I also feel for low landers....when the farm fields here on the hill let loose and our driveway culvert pipe is roaring....I know the guys below us are getting hammered....1.8 miles down to the valley floor and town...picking up all the water and momentum as it flows...not good

Noodle it sounds like the flashing on the chimney is what needs to be addressed. There is going to be tough times ahead be safe and careful.
