Dusting bowl

I found a dusting bowl this morning scouting out a new area. It was fresh with a feather in it. Do they use them everyday or make new ones? I’m going to hunt there tomorrow ether way. It’s the only sign I’ve seen all week. Six day and only seen three hens in my travels.

They use them pretty often and they'll keep coming back there. Not sure what times of the day they'll use them though.

I have a cheapie cam to set up. Last time I put one on state land I forgot where I put it.

I’m going to try not to call let them do there own thing. I tend to over do it and don’t want to blow up the spot.

You'd be a lot better off finding a place where you are HEARING gobblers, and hunting that...

Dust bowls  are cool, and yes, they are encouraging sign, but if you want to kill a gobbler, you need to find where they are roosting, and, more importantly, where they are going to meet hens..

They use them daily, all the birds will, typically in late mornings and into the afternoons. Put a camera on it! 

I wanted to make a dust bowl or two if i had the time this spring..

If you hunt it, id make it a mid to late morning spot, and sit where you see or hear toms in the mornings..
