ok you guys know I have max and ruby . I use max for pheasants . ruby  not sure yet she likes getting the duck decoy from the lake  so she maybe my duck dog . My problem is  how do you get them to stop working when they are home ?  Max brings me everything  and I don't ask for it . He brings me my slippers water bottles ( full and empty) toys ,blankets , pillows food dishes ( dogs and the cats ).  I fold laundry he needs to carry something back to who's ever room the clothes go to i give him a wash cloth.  He puts laundry in the washer . If I drop something he picks.it up . He even helps outside . My husband gets a load of wood and max helps carry it across the yard . Groceries  inside . But it is getting bad . By the time I go to bed I have a collection of stuff to put away .because max brings me  stuff all day long.

But how do i get him to relax he doesn't  he thinks I need everything . Brings me everything.  Today I just got a 2 liter of pepsi from him . I dont need that loli want him to play and have fun not retrieve  me things

How old is he. It means he needs to

Find an outlet for his energy. Maybe try running him every day

Mine does that too sometimes.  When he was a pup I wouldn’t discourage it as I feared it would mess with his retrieve drive.  It doesn’t, they’re smart.  When he’s gotten into something that he shouldn’t have and I catch him, rather than running off he promptly runs to me with the item and delivers it perfectly. I find that this ‘misbehavior’ only happens when he hasn’t blown off steam outdoors.  A tired dog is a happy dog.

My best Hunting Dogs were almost always the ones living in my house. Obedience and handling are a couple of things that are on the top of my list when training any dog, when you are around them 24-7 your hunting dog gets to know what is allowed and what is not non stop. Nothing better than a great hunting dog that also handles like a dream.

The best  rabbit running beagle that I ever hunted over and the best coonhound were both house pets....

The beagle belonged to a hunting buddy of mine and was a spoiled, pampered house dog with no personality, but she was a rabbit running machine....We always cleaned rabbits as soon as we shot them, and very seldom would we have a rabbit cleaned and in the game pouch before she started another track....

The coonhound was a walker mix that belonged to my Dad...She was a free running yard dawg since he lived in a very rural area...She was semi-silent, but was a solid tree dog and accounted for many coons back in the day when they were worth good money...She was also a good kill dog if a coon happened to hit the ground alive...

My Brittany was a full time house dog family pet that would hunt his ass off when given the chance. He didn’t retrieve things in the house but he would Wake up from a dead sleep to get on top of the couch to point a squirrel walking the fence. If you happened to be sitting in route to his pointing platform you would become the pointing platform!

Miss that pup...1 year gone this week.

He's doing what he loves to do. It's what makes him happy.  Better than chewing everything in sight like our  1 1/2 yr yellow lab. If we're not inside she will chew anything that isn't nailed down.  She loves toilet paper.  She'll strip a whole roll in minutes.
