"Road Kill" tidbit for the day!

It is now legal to pick up road kill in Illinois by a person holding a hunting license. It is legal during the hunting season only.

why are the rules the body has to be attached to get the rack scored?....what if they take pics if the bucks not too banged up and then cape it to have it scored?

Actually you can.. it is entered in a "found dead" catagory though

That is not a NYS Big Buck Club rule. As far as entering a buck in the record book that is a road kill.. I'm sure there are some that might get one by us.. but so what? The record book is about recording the buck for future hunters to see... not about the hunter... frankly.. shortly after a hunter takes a record book buck , most people will remember the buck, but won't remember the guy.

The largest none typical ever recorded was a found dead buck if im not mistaken.

This is a good example of why the record book is important... there is a chance that this buck never would have been seen by many of us if not recorded and preserved in history.
