Deerthug
I made this Iphone 4 bow mount to film my hunts. I think it works pretty well. See for yourselves . . . http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OZ0stHVdM_s
jr.deerslayer
How do you like the Nap Apache? I was going to get one but I decided the arrow flopping around would be a pain, so I went with the Ripcord Code Red. ...You might be able to install a dampener on the screw prior to the mount kind of like a bumper, I'm just not sure if you could get the mount tight enough. Deerthug
I love the NAP Apache. I used to have the Whisker Biscuit but it tore my fletchings. I was not happy. I did a lot of research on rests and read reviews. I settled on the Apache and it works great. My arrows don't really flop around unless I'm moving around with the arrow nocked. I also shoot with FOBs. The Apache lets me do that without any interference. I need to look into some kind of bumper to put between the mount and the stabilizer bar. kevin.hillbush
could that mounting brackett work for droid phone?
Deerthug
Kevin, I don't see why not. All you need is a hard case for the particular droid phone you own and attach it the same way. Just pre-drill the holes for the screws on the case to prevent cracking the case when tightening the screws. The bracket is a 3" metal bracket I picked up at Home Depot. Just remember to enlarge the bottom hole to the size of your stabilizer screw. I used a 5/16th inch bit. Took about 20 minutes to put it all together. Couple of days of drying time for the paint. I suggest that before painting, use some fine grit sandpaper on the case so the paint will adhere better. Also I used some small washers on the inside of the case so the screws would not slip through. Edited February 19, 2012 by Deerthug
Zhe Wiz
Hmmm, Vendetta is illegal in NY. :-( Cool idea on the mount though!
Deerthug
Hmmm, Vendetta is illegal in NY. :-( Cool idea on the mount though! Vendetta IS legal check out email I received from DEC below: Hello Mr. Masiakos, Thank you for your inquiry. Please be aware that there is no prohibition on mounting a rangefinder to a bow or crossbow. Please let us know if you have any further questions. Aphrodite Montalvo Citizen Participation Specialist NYSDEC Region 1 50 Circle Road Stony Brook, NY 11790 [email protected] (631) 444-0350 9/18/2011 12:20 PM >>> Hi, I am inquiring as to whether or not it is legal to use the Leupold Vendetta bow mounted rangefinder for hunting purposes in New York State. This rangefinder mounts on a bow and is triggered with the press of a button similar to a basic rangefinder. This one allows the user to range objects while at full draw. I understand that the regulations set forth that no artificial lights, lasers or mechanical devices may be used on a bow. However, my research has resulted in different answers on various hunting and bow hunting forums and I am confused as to whether this particular rangefinder can be used in New York for hunting purposes. Thank you in advance for your anticipated courteous attention and prompt response.
Zhe Wiz
Now THAT is very interesting! This site says its not: http://bowmountedrangefinder.com/leupold-vendetta-legal-states/ I cannot vouch for the legitimacy of that site though. I like YOUR source better. I had always assumed the reason was its ability to project a laser on target. I like the response from the DEC though. Sorry to have hijacked the thread, but VERY useful information on the Vendetta too. Looks like I'll have a new toy coming this archery season, hopefully 10/1 this year. Deerthug
No worries. This was previously posted on another thread back in September when I received the DEC response. I printed out the email and shoved it in my pack in case some smart a$$ CO gives me a hard time. The vendetta works great once you get it aligned. Can be a pain to set up. Best to have a buddy help you out.
Zhe Wiz
Unlikely anyone would even notice, but you never know. Good idea on the print-out. I'll check out the other thread. Zhe Wiz
PostedBoys Gallego
That is a great low budget mount that looks to be working awesome. That little bit of shake ain't that bad and provides an interesting view point from the bow. Great Job! I'll have to try it out myself now. Deerthug
Thanks! It was a lot cheaper than some of the ones that are out there on the market. Saw your videos as well. Great job!
fasteddie
Enjoyed the video . It was put together quite well . Nice job ! The motorized gobbler was quite a neat idea .
Deerthug
Thanks Eddie. The mount held the phone pretty snugly and I didn't use rubber bands. But at 18 feet up I plan on using the rubber bands. .

The main thing is to remember to keep the bow held up and pointed out when you shoor a deer . It's easy to forget and drop your bow arm . skyhunter
nice job putting that together. While I have seen many a bow mouted video of a shot from a compound bow and all have noticable camera jump at the moment of the shot, the amount of jump in your video is not bad at all; in fact better than most I have seen. Your bow must be getting up there in weight with the rangefinder and the phone though it is not the phone that weighs a lot; it is that Vendetta. They should be able to manufacture that product at less than half the size and weight but they would rather save on cost and throw a clunky item at us. It's a shame they won't do it as more hunters would likely use them. thanks for the show; the motorized decoy is a cool idea. Deerthug
Thanks guys. I just hope I remember to keep the bow up after the shot. The turkey decoy was started last year. I had problems with it getting stuck in ruts between rows where the soybeans were standing. This year I modified it and I will be leveling the ground in a couple of areas I will be setting up. deerpassion
Hmmm, Vendetta is illegal in NY. :-( Cool idea on the mount though! says it right in the regs that as long as there is now visible beam of light such as a lazer it is ok!
Zhe Wiz
says it right in the regs that as long as there is now visible beam of light such as a lazer it is ok! That's the problem, the Vendetta CAN put out a visible light, exactly like a laser. It's just that it's SUPPOSED to only be used for setting up the Vendetta. That's why it's a bit of a gray area. Exactly. And I'll likely give it a try this year as well. I already have the mount, just need to buy the expensive part - the Vendetta itself. :-) Zhe Wiz
