Grouse
Crime is on the rise and all these Democrats can think to do is go after responsible gun owners. Why a database of lawful gun purchases? Criminals are not included in that info. Federal law explicitly prohibits the creation of a federal firearm registry, but the Biden administration is making one anyway. The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) has collected nearly one billion firearm purchase records. The government has now created a searchable digital database containing 866 million of these transactions, including some 54 million made in 2021 alone. This massive data collection effort encompasses information on all guns sold by licensed gun dealers, and on all legal gun transfers in states with so-called universal background checks. So, federal officials will know everyone who legally obtained a gun. Now, President Biden wants to make universal background checks nationwide so that he can have an even more complete registration list. According to a Rasmussen Reports Survey, Democrats support the idea by 2-1 ratio, while Republicans oppose it by a similar margin. Two-thirds of Republicans believe the policy will lead to gun confiscation, and even 40% of Democrats believe the same. Confiscating legally owned firearms, it seems, is not merely a right-wing conspiracy theory. Similarly, a recent Gallup poll shows that 40% of Democrats want a complete ban on civilian ownership of handguns. Countries such as Canada, the U.K., and Australia aren’t the only ones to use registration to ban and confiscate guns. California, Chicago, and Washington, D.C. have also used registration to know who legally owned different types of guns before banning them. https://crimeresearch.org/2022/02/at-real-clear-politics-democrats-pushing-gun-registry-as-precursor-to-gun-ban/
squirrelwhisperer
Such BS! the bad guys will still have their guns. Nothing will change there. I'm believe that we have the perfectly incorrect view of gun laws in this state. it should be more like Texas or Alaska or others. Put a firearm in every law abiding CITZEN'S hand then see what happens? If you were a bad guy, would you rather hold up a bar in NY where you know the probability is that you are the only one in the room with a gun or in Texas that as soon as you pull out your weapon, there will instantly be 75 guns pointed at the back of your head.

Grouse
“You know, there’s always a renewed national debate, every time we nominate, any president, nominates a justice, because the Constitution is always evolving slightly in terms of additional rights, or curtailing rights.” Joe Biden While he did not specify as to what rights he feels should be subject to potential “curtailing,” I'm reasonably certain it would include the rights of law-abiding gun owners. Perhaps those who support other rights enshrined in our nation’s founding documents should be nervous about whether their concerns are also subject to Biden’s “curtailing.” The main problem with what Biden said is that rights exist irrespective of the Constitution. The Constitution merely recognizes certain rights, and makes it clear that the government shall not pass laws (or impose bureaucratic regulations) that infringe on those rights. This is why our Founders wrote in our Bill of Rights such definitive phrases as “Congress shall make no law…prohibiting” and “shall not be infringed.” They did not write “Congress can make some laws, based on what is popularly accepted at the time.” Nor did they write, “shall be subject to some infringement, if those in power deem it acceptable.” They understood rights already existed, and wanted to make it clear that the government is prohibited from interfering with those who wish to exercise their rights. Many laws have, of course, already been passed that violate the protections intended in the Second Amendment, and many more have been proposed. We must continue to fight to repeal those passed and oppose those suggested. Such laws and proposed legislation likely fall under what Biden approvingly refers to as “curtailing rights.” One need only listen to Biden whenever he talks about firearms to know that there are probably innumerable laws he would like to see passed that would further his “curtailing rights” agenda. ApexerER
Its weird how hundreds of thousands of New Yorkers can take to the woods every November and December with high powered rifles and yet, somehow, those guns don't manage to shoot anyone. You would think those bad guns would go rogue once in a while...
Jeremy K
The local news was on today and they covered some of what was happening with russia. I realized and I couldnt believe it at first but I think I literally have more respect for Putin over that shell of a human living in the White House.
Grouse
Are you a terrorist? Here's another way this administration will use to take your 2nd Amendment rights away. If they can put you on a list that prevents you from owning a firearm, they will. https://patriotpost.us/articles/86130-dhs-publishes-an-unhinged-terror-threat-assessment-2022-02-09?mailing_id=6468&utm_medium=email&utm_source=pp.email.6468&utm_campaign=digest&utm_content=body
