2022 maple season

I couldn’t let a maple syrup season go by without doing some sugaring!  I managed to scrape enough equipment together so I could tap some trees.  It felt good to be in the woods feeding the fire with wood and my pan with sap, although not so good when I turned around to see the burnt remains of my Bone Creek Sugar Shack.  Life goes on and it’s much too short to be lamenting about things gone bad (still planning Bone Creek II).

Dino, the pictures of you collecting sap on the hillside makes me appreciate my little Sugarbush that is pretty much flat..;)

black locust,we are lucky to have a bunch on our property. I have used them for fence posts,a seriously raised garden bed and a few other projects around here. I set over 250 fence posts over the years in drilled holes. We have some sheep and they are hard to fence in,much harder than horses...
