growalot
Your turkeys crop to see what they are eating? Mine didn't have much...a few blk beetles..green matter...and what looked like bark?... I'm expecting to see baby grass hoppers...if our latest snow storm didn't kill them...we get a huge hatch of them every year...the ground looks like it's moving away from you when you walk the leafs...but they hatched early this year.... RangerClay
Sometimes I will. It depends where I'm hunting. I have one hill that I have hunted turkeys for over 20 years, I know exactly where they have been eating.
nyantler
I always check... and always find it fascinating when I find a crop full of perfectly shelled beechnuts that look like you could eat them right out of the crop. Also opened a couple stuffed full of grasshoppers which don't look so tasty.
sits in trees
i've shot Toms with bellies full of grass seed that i was attempting to grow a lawn with! But mostly bellies full of bug parts. Makes me wonder how i can even eat wild turkey meat after seeing what the hell they eat? Edited May 3, 2012 by sits in trees
